Orchestra

Over the course of his career Steve has played for most of the UK orchestras including LSO under André Previn and Michael Tilson Thomas, RPO, Philharmonia, Royal Opera, ENO, Royal Ballet Sinfonia (with whom he has just recently recorded a new CD of 'English Light Classics' at Abbey Road) and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra under Sir Simon Rattle.

He was principal clarinet with Orchestra da Camera for twelve years and is still a member of the National Symphony Orchestra (with whom he recorded approximately 65 complete musicals for TER Records at EMI Abbey Road) and the London Concert Orchestra.

Steve has also played regularly with the LCO Big Band in recent years. He has done three series of ‘evenings’ with Anton de Beke and Erin Baug, two of the stars of Strictly Come Dancing. (Another series will start next January 2012.) The big band has also featured in many concerts called We’ll Meet Again, introduced by June Whitfield, revisiting the music associated with World War II and also concerts showcasing the works of George Gershwin.

Steve’s most recent orchestral work has been a hugely successful concert series with Arts Symphonic, accompanying the tenor Russell Watson. A DVD of the Albert Hall concert will be released this Christmas.
